LETTER TO CONGRESSMAN

To my congressman:

Now that the Republicans have retaken the majority in the House of Representatives, what will you do with that power?  Will you go back to spending and disregarding the Constitution as you did when George Bush was president and the Republicans had control of the House and the Senate?  Or will you change your ways and start abiding by the limitations in Article I, Section 8 of the Constitution?

I for one have a wish list that starts with repeal of every bill that has been passed since January, 2009 and start over.  Since I know that won’t happen, then I strongly back the repeal of Obamacare and the Dodd/Frank Financial takeover bill.  Then add in the repeal of the Community Reinvestment Act of 1977, the phase out of Fannie Mae and Freddie Mac from government backing, the closing of the Department of Education, the Department of Labor, the EPA, Homeland Security and other departments totally outside the scope of the Constitution.  Along with these repeals and closures, I would ask that earmarks be done away with (why should I pay for a high speed rail in Florida and why should Florida taxpayers pay for a road in Texas?) and a pledge to publicly justify all bills being considered as to what clause in the Constitution gives congress the authority to pass such bills.

I realize that the Democrats still have control of the Senate and the White House and that repeal is extremely unlikely, but if you keep giving the Senate bills to repeal and close departments, it will continue to show the voters who wants to free them from government control and who wants to continue interfering with every aspect of our lives.  The least you can do for now is to cut off all funding for implementing the Obamacare and the finance act and the Department of Education and the other departments noted as well as anything the Obama Czars are associated.

My opinion is that if the Republicans don’t move back to a smaller, less intrusive government operating under the limitations set forth in the Constitution as it was originally intended, there will be no Republican Party within ten years.  It will be irrelevant and a third party will replace it.  I no longer trust the Republican Party.  I trust the Democrats.  I know they will give us higher taxes; they will stifle businesses with high taxes and excessive regulations attempting to kill capitalism and free markets; and, they will increase redistribution programs in the name of “social justice” which is nothing more than Marxism.  They tell us that is what they will do and I trust them to keep their word.  But the Republicans tell us they believe in smaller government that is limited to the Constitution but that hasn’t happened.  You mug me and take my money to give to charities of your choice.  They’re noble causes but no nobler than the ones I choose for myself.  You bail out businesses instead of letting the free market do its work.  You over regulate businesses and individuals alike.  You’ve even decided what size toilet I can have or what kind of light bulb I can use.  These things are not part of the authority given to government and is certainly none of the government’s business.

Please, save our nation and the Republican Party by returning our federal government back to the limits set forth in the Constitution.  Protect our liberty to live our lives as we see fit and to be able to pursue our individual happiness on our own.
